Description

This region is perfect for both couples and families with plenty of options to suit both. Visit one of the many thrilling theme parks on the Gold Coast, cuddle a Koala at a wildlife sanctuary, go bush walking through the rainforest, learn to surf on the Sunshine Coast, cruise the Noosa Everglades, enjoy a round of golf, explore World Heritage listed Fraser Island or simply relax on the beach.

Day 1: Brisbane
Arrive into Brisbane today for a two-night stay. Dissected by the Brisbane River, this city is an eclectic mix of culture, shopping and the laidback lifestyle that epitomises this part of Queensland. Take a riverfront walk, enjoy a sight-seeing cruise or climb the Story Bridge – one of only three bridge climbs in the world.

Two nights in Brisbane

Day 3: Noosa
Collect a hire car this morning, and drive north from the city, perhaps stopping en route to visit the world-renowned Australia Zoo – owned by the family of the late Steve Irwin. On this route north there are two possible scenic routes – following the stunning coastline, or taking an inland route through the hinterland, with numerous lookouts offering excellent views. Noosa is a pretty coastal town – laid back and popular with surfers. Shop in the chic boutiques of Hastings Street, explore Noosa National Park – you may be lucky enough to see a Koala in the wild, and cruise the Noosa Everglades.

Three nights in Noosa

Day 6: Fraser Island
Continue north today to Hervey Bay, leaving the hire car there. Take the ferry over to World Heritage listed Fraser Island – the largest sand island in the world. With pristine beaches, lakes and rainforests growing in the sand, a stay on Fraser Island gives you a taste of unspoilt paradise. Best explored by a small group four-wheel drive tour, you’ll visit 75 Mile Beach, the Champagne Pools, Coloured Sands and Eli Creek.

Three nights on Fraser Island

Day 9: Montville
Take the ferry back to Hervey Bay; collect your hire car and return south today, driving through the scenic hinterland to the pretty village of Montville for an overnight stay. The village is made up of boutiques and craft shops, as well as small restaurants, and offers beautiful views to the coast from the many lookout points in the area.

One night at Montville

Day 10: Coolangatta
Continue south today, past Brisbane and to the Gold Coast for a three night stay. The Gold Coast is a vibrant stretch of coastline with a plethora of activities to entertain. Visit theme parks, water parks, learn to surf or explore by quad bike. For something different, visit Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary for their Wildnight Adventure – a unique evening with a BBQ, night tour of the sanctuary, an Aboriginal dance and chances to cuddle koalas and other sanctuary inhabitants.

Three nights at Coolangatta

Day 13 – Lamington National Park
Drive inland today, into the stunning rainforest of Lamington National Park. The journey up into the rainforest is incredible, with stunning views as the road winds its way upwards, clinging to the side of the mountain, before levelling out as you drive along the forest floor between ancient trees and ferns. There are an abundance of walking tracks to explore, as well as plenty of other activities.

Two nights at Lamington National Park

Day 15: Willowvale
Wend your way back down from the National Park today and head north to the GoldCoast hinterland, and to Willowvale for a two-night stay. Your destination today is a stunning lodge – a luxurious end to your holiday, with fantastic food, excellent wine and beautiful surroundings.

Two nights at Willowvale

Day 17: Brisbane
Return to Brisbane today, dropping off the hire car and checking in for your onward or homeward flight.
