It’s always nice to get to Friday, with the prospect of the weekend ahead – even if the weather forecast is not as good as it might be, but to get to Friday, having had a very good week, and end the week with a little chuckle is even better!
Air New Zealand gave us a reason to be cheerful – and proved to us that they are an airline with a sense of humour.
The scenario is this – we have a booking for clients with Air New Zealand and receive an email from the airline telling us that both the time and the flight number has changed on this particular booking. The new times are fine, and will not impact on the clients arrangements and are accepted. An email returns to us confirming the change, but informing us that the seat allocation on the original booking has been lost. Blow – but never mind, I can access the booking and allocate new seats. In fact, at first glance, this is to the clients benefit as the seats I can get are in fact much better than the original booking.
Up comes the aircraft seat plan on my computer screen showing available seats, and to my amusement also shows the two seats in the cockpit of the plane. When I hover my mouse over these two seats, a little message pops up saying ‘The pilot sits here’!!
It made us laugh!
The moral of this story – never be afraid to ask!
Air New Zealand offer daily flights between London and Auckland via Los Angeles, and a five times per week route via Hong Kong, although I see that the Hong Kong route is increasing towards the end of the year. At the moment, they have some great fares – especially on the shorter legs – ie return flights between London and Hong Kong, and return flights between London and Los Angeles. They also now offer their skycouch on selected routes – an ingenious method of purchasing three economy seats for two people – great value and added comfort on a a long flight.
