| Experience Holidays Scores Hat-Trick at Business Awards
The bespoke holiday provider turned out to be the star of the show after entering the awards for the first time. The annual award ceremony, a sell-out event held in front of an audience of 250 local business people at the town’s Grand Hotel, highlights the work of the most deserving companies in Eastbourne and the surrounding area. Experience Holidays was nominated for four awards, winning three and being named runner-up in the fourth. There was certainly a travel flavour to this year’s awards as the celebrity guest was Polar explorer and mountaineer Tom Avery. Experience Holiday’s Administration Manager Denise Horscraft won the Employee of the Year title for the stoicism and dedication she has shown towards her work. Denise suffers from severe rheumatoid arthritis, but has not allowed this to affect her work and has become an integral member of the team. She was praised by the judges for her inspirational enthusiasm and determination. The company was also runner-up in the Employer of the Year category for its outstanding dedication to staff wellbeing.  The second prestigious title won by Experience Holidays was Small Business of the Year, open to businesses of 10 employees or less. This was awarded for the company’s exceptional customer service and attention to detail. In this category Experience Holidays fought off competition from some of the most notable companies in the Eastbourne and district area. Completing the hat-trick Experience Holidays went on to win the overall Eastbourne Business of the Year title, beating off stiff competition from other entries in the fields of manufacturing and construction, independent retailer, service and support, professional business and hospitality, tourism and leisure. Experience Holidays, which was founded in the early 1990s with three members of staff, was taken over by the current Managing Director Jackie Appleton in 2005. Jackie originally joined in 2001 as Reservations Consultant after 25 years experience working at other travel agents in Sussex. The company now has a team of six employees and, due to its continued expansion, last month moved from The Avenue in Eastbourne to larger premises in Market Street, Hailsham.  Jackie said: “The Eastbourne Business Awards is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate our business prowess to the local community.
